The Lance Armstrong book that

farmerlloyd mentioned 2 pages back is "It's not about the bike" with the subtitle "my journey back to life". I've just finished reading it myself and recommend it to dageezer (sorry if I've got your name wrong) and her partner to read. Armstrong's cancer was extremely advanced - so his story really gives "worst case scenario". Testicular cancer has a 90% cure rate if caught early enough, so fingers crossed your partner has an excellent prognosis. Thinking of everyone else here who are determinedly waving their swords!

Oh .. I may not have told everyone

The state of my bank account meant that I have now sold most of the small flock of ewes just a few days ago .. and those that remain ( about 20 ) have a couple of weeks to wait before they drop their bundles !! But there are calves on the ground all around here now. In fact calving is well under way I think .. Lambing will take a week or two before it gets busy..

farmerlloyd (24 )    11:20 pm, 16 Aug

3039.

This is definitely good night to all

All packed, and pressure sleeve and mitten awaiting for the morning. Will miss you all. My fingers will have nothing to do!!!! Dying to hear how Sonia's holiday went. Yes, Mae West, Eileen is one of my favourite characters on Coro St. too, but I bet you work harder than she does. Must close the trusty lap-top down for 11 days, my husband says I will have withdrawal symptoms. Bye bye.

Good morning everyone

It is another lovely day here in Southland. please disregard the post I made about my bank account. It was too late and I didn't think before I wrote that. What I really meant to say was . Another farmer made me an offer too good to refuse, so I took the money and sold him the sheep!!

Morning everyone

FIL's first load of chemo went well. He says he feels miles better already, I didn't realise it could work that quickly. Am trying to convince him to be driven to AKL (he lives 4 hours drive away) by someone else so he doesn't need to worry about driving but he's being stubborn and doesn't want to put anyone else out. He's a grumpy old sod sometimes!

Hi Joystik

I am sure you will get through today just as fine as you have got through the other treatments. It simply amazes me how well you keep throughout. Good on you and hope your day goes well.

Good morning Bogeyi and Ryan

Hope you had another good night's sleep. I get the feeling the worst is behind you guy's now. I hope I am right. Have a good day and tell Ryan I wish him all the best every day. The talk about getting home soon is a real encouragement.

3045.

Hi Paula , Josh and family,

Hope you are all feeling fine on this glorious Southland morning ..( I've gotta get outside !) But do hope Josh doesn't have to go through that bronchoscopy! I won't tell you what I thought of that procedure when I was at Kew! In the big picture I suppose it is only a small blip , if it does have to be done. Anyway hope your day goes just fine

FIL

is back again on 06 Sep for appointment then next load of chemo on 07 Sep. Still have no more information from him. Might see if I can go with him for his next appointment to ask questions. Is the 2nd load of chemo more powerful than the first? Am looking forward to having a full nights sleep tonight - he heads home today.

other nice posters here, Good morning , It is a lovely day at this end of the country and I hope you each have as good weather wherever you are. I have to go off and load a transport truck with some bales of balage. It is due in about five minutes ... See you all later

The chemo does build up in your system, and each session is like a top up before the the previous one wears off. I found with my treatments, that I was very tired the 2 nd day after my treatment. I used to have complete rest on this day. The following day I would go to work as per norm. I remember my first chemo was a sigh of relief that treatment had started, and that it was in my body doing its thing. Prior to the first treatment, you are still in a state of shock, and your mind working overtime that the dreaded "c" was in your body.

Morning everyone :))

Another beautiful day here. I hope you can all get outside and enjoy it. I managed to get outside for 20 mins yestaerday while Jordan was sleeping, its so cold inside with the curtains all shut to keep the light out. He and I sleep in the lounge together while hes sick so I can look after him. Hes doing ok so far, he can feel the vertigo in his head if he opens his eyes in the morning and hasn't vomited yet. The first week is usually like this though as it keeps building till the third week. Hes also on anti nausea meds.

Beaut day here today and

should be outside in the garden but got lazy and sprayed the weeds early last week and they are all just starting to die so got to be patient before I go cleaning up garden and replanting. Housework has the priority today! Miss17 dropped a bombshell on me last night. She announced 2 weeks ago she wants to go back to Germany next Winter. She got a email from her German "sister" yesterday when her school holidays are. Looks like Miss17 will be gone for her 18th birthday. Miss German plans to have her drivers license and they want to spend 6 weeks travelling thru Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy etc. I think they are too young to be wandering round Europe on their own and I'm not a happy mum! Hubby keeps telling me it might not happen. Whole idea of her not going to uni next year and working was to save some money! Miss German is coming back out in 18 months and they want to go tripping round NZ in Xmas holidays so there isn't going to be much working done! Kids eh!

Hi Maewest....

another day off today. Got the feel of spring here but looks like I am going to have to stay inside and do the housework. I might emerge from it in a weeks time!!!! Of course I could disappear and go for a walk and enjoy the sunshine on the excuse exercise is more important!

good on you for taking the $$ and running. I would too. Sorry I didn't go to Ian Gawler last night. We had such a lovely day pottering around the countryside and I just could not be bothered racing in to Chch at teatime. One of the friends I am seeing today went though. Hopefully she took some notes. To tell the truth I felt a bit guilty not going. Oh well, never mind. I will have another read of his website. Have a lovely day in the sunshine.

For Hardyro

After the op I had 4 drains (2 in my abdomen, 2 on my side beside boob). The ab drains were not too bad, but the ones draining the breast site were really painful at times. The first week was painful, but it didn’t help that I didn’t take morphine after the first couple of doses because it made me throw up, and I tended to wait until the pain was pretty bad before I took pain relief. Don’t do that; take the pain relief earlier rather than later. After about 5 days I didn’t even take any pain relief – but that’s just me. By the time I left the hospital (a week) I could walk around a little, but had to remember to take it easy. My stomach felt very tight (as you can imagine), and I felt all stooped over when walking. I had to wear the ab support (can’t remember the name of it) for at least 6 weeks, and I hated that. By that time I was able to bike, walk etc, and was pretty mobile (with some obvious limitations). Cont …

My initial plan was to get the tram flap, then a nipple reconstruction. I have decided against the nipple recon now though. My plastic surgeon made an excellent job of the ‘boob’,& with a bra, no one would know the difference (except when it's very cold LOL). My ab scar goes from hip to hip, & my navel was repositioned. The entire length of the ab scar (from above my navel to just above the pubic line) is numb (about 1.5cm deep), and that carries on up my torso where they ‘tunnelled’ the muscle up to my chest. The entire breast is completely numb. I often liken the numb torso to wearing a thick rubber wetsuit. Lying on my stomach feels very odd, and I have to be very careful about burns etc. I do sometimes get pain and itching where the nerves have been cut. This is weird because where I think I can feel these sensations, there is no feeling, so the itch can’t be scratched (if that makes sense to you). Cont ...

Hi All

Hope everyone is doing well. I dont mean to bring up the past but man that person that took the 3000 th post P'd me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vent over! Have just tried to catch up on everyone. Kiwikaz - I am glad to hear you are having some time for you, even in the circumstances you are in.I think you are wonderful being there! Dize5 - Have a great time! FarmerLloyd - I am into it now, we now have over 50 calved and the due date to start was yesterday. Hope it keeps up like this and it will be over in no time. Chris had to buy some feed in today as we are a bit low. Janet, I really feel for you and Jordan. It must be so hard - hugs to you both. I understand that was the emulator you sent me, but dear Josh checks daily for new games appearing on the list and I was thinking I would need to update that emulator each time they add a new game???Maybe???

Boop

Hi Boop, thanks for your kind words, Josh is feeling better, this lot of chemo was the next 12 week course. Of course he has had to stop twice now so it will be delaying the end. Each 12 week course starts the day after the last 12 week. So he doesnt get a break unless he gets sick - like he has. Hi Meridian, Maewest, landylass I am thinking of you all. Just getting busier by the day. Landylass - I wouldnt like to have to deal with one of my kidlets thinking about travelling around Europe, at 18. Hope it works out for all. K better go, Cass is due home soon and then its homework and feeding the calves again. Love to you all xoxo

I'm not sure how much of this is helpful to you, and I don't know what you know, and what you want to know about. If you want to ask me anything else, please do. It's great that you are a non-smoker as I know that smoking can be a big cause of complications. I urge you not to 'worry' as I believe that a positive attitude makes so much difference in recovery. I will be eager to hear how it goes for you, and will be thinking of you on the 30th for sure. Shirree xxxx

You sound busy, busy, busy!!! I'm glad Joshi's temp went back down. So he's back into the chemo again huh - poor little chap, it's a bit full on isn't it! What is next for you after the aspiration? Did it hurt? Excuse my ignorance. I agree about that person snatching the 3000 - cheeky huh!! Have a great day Paula, and give your sweet little kidlets a hug from me. xxxx

Hope you don't mind Kiwikaz

me telling your mb friends this. I think its great you have gone to support your friend, even though you are missing your daughters birthday today. When Kiwikaz hubby was diagnosed he ended up in Brisbane hospital after a seizure, 10 hours from home and she had to stay home and sort out where 3 kids were going, the youngest only 2. She got to Brisbane to find out he had a brain tumour, was bleeding in brain and may not survive 24 hours. She was alone in Brisbane and didn't know anyone. He survived the night and came round and got to ring kids to say goodbye knowing he might not survive the operation. His family from NZ were frantically trying to get there but flights organising flights take time and its thanks to a good friend in another part of OZ who flew in to be with her that she wasn't alone during his op. What goes round comes round and now she is supporting someone else in this situation. Good on you and wishing him a speedy recovery.

what a truley special friend you are to be there to support your friends in Australia. It's good to hear that your friend's diagnosis isn't as bad as it could have been. Still will be hard though, and I bet they are glad of your support. I hope miss 11 is having an awesome birthday. xxxx

Kiwikaz is my neice

and when it happened all of us in NZ were just feeling sick in the stomach knowing she was on her own over there facing the prospect of loosing her hubby. She had great community support where she lived but those couple of days in Brisbane until family arrived must have been a nightemare for her... also with worry of how the kids were handling it too.

Hi guys.

I haven't read the thread but it seems to me that it has got a bit long. Probably time to let it die and start another one. If you want to know why then pop into the "rangiora and all north cantabrians" thread and ask Gills. Believe me when I say I think it's advisable.

Having a great time

but have my weepy moments in the evenings. Lumps are hurting and my back is back to major pain - glad I brought pain killers! Massage made it worse #sigh# But loving swimming with the girls it hasa cool twirly waterslide which we all love (a slip at the top is what put my back out - at least I was having fun ;o) Scrapbooking in the evenings have done 6 pages so far, getting better as I go, much happier with these latest efforst ;o) All good, enema was a laugh but apparently according to the directions it absorbs straight in the liver, so given thats where the new cancer is - ATTACK! We'll be doing it again tonight (Lucky us!) Oh well, back to socialise. What a flash house they, have, still finishing construction, right on river... Niiiice! OK bye all :o) Later!

Hi Landylass, YES! only 2 to go now.........

The next one they want to do on the friday instead of thursday because of the neutrophils. As expected, as each dose has been given then neuts. have been slower coming back, only by a few points, but they want to give the next one closer to 2 than under that level. She thought REST might be what is required! Yeah right....I dont put much rest into any sentence let alone any day! Last time the count was 1.83 and this time it was only 1.77 so its not down a lot but enough. It all went really well today through the port. And so far no side effects.....YAY!!!!

joystik (286 )    7:39 pm, 17 Aug

3111.

I was a bit dissappointed when Dr North upped

the amount of Radiotherapy from 15 to 25 treatments, but he said at this stage its better to be safe than sorry, especially with the nodes at the base of the neck, which cant be removed. We will find plenty to do up there. I will check out that Cancer house and have a nice brochure about it here. Although Kevin is adament that he wants to be there for me, and one of Laurens friends Mum's has said she will have Lauren, so I guess its not a biggy in lots of ways....Sounds like you've been busy....nice warm sunny days make you pleased to be alive no matter what you do in the day..

3112.

I must say too landylass, I share your sentiment

about your daughter roaming round over seas with her friend at 18. That would really scare me if it was my daughter too. My friends son just went to Thailand for 8 days. He is 25, but not at all street wise, and got robbed in Singapore of $2000 and his mobile phone, beore he even got to Thailand. His parents stressed the entire time he was away, especially his Mum, and it ended up costing them so much extra, with having to send him money, phone calls to Thailand etc. I know this doesnt happen to most people but it does happen....No wonder you are not happy....((((HUGS))))) to you.....

Thanks too landylass for posting about your neice.

She is a lovely person to do what she has done for her friends at such a traumatic time in their lives. She will have total empathy for how they feel, having been in the same position. Can your daughter go on one of the organised bus tours? Safer than travelling unguided. I do understand the way you must be feeling. She sounds as stubborn as I was so she will never listen but maybe a gentle nudge in the right direction might help change her plans in a safer direction.

able to provide for hardyro, to help prepare for her reconstruction. It is so helpful to hear of personal experiences of people that have been through the same op. Haven't been on the computer

much lately so haven't been keeping up with this thread. Hope everyone's had a good day. It was lovely here in Christchurch. Got hot walking to the hospital for an appointment with my thyroid surgeon. Found out it's been put on hold. Had a pre-surgery CT scan a few weeks ago and it showed a suspicious area in my back. Am having a bone scan tomorrow to check if it is the breast cancer, which they think it is, or something else. Will then see the med onc in about a week to see what happens next.

Thats a bit of a joke, have it dripping off the fringe etc. MMMM yummy!!!! Dont know about the bronchoscopy yet, maybe Christchurch maybe Kew?? Waiting to hear what Christchurch say. He looked pale tonight, he gets tired so easily. Tonight he wanted to play his CD so I told him he could on the computer, they were calling me for ages. When I finally finished the dishes and came to see what they were doing he and Cass had Crazy Frog bursting out with all the lights off in the office. Watching the designs on Media Player. So we all had to have a groove and then I put them to bed. Never a dull moment in this house - love to you xoxo

Did get some good news though.

Sarah my 11yr old daughter passed her grade 3 jazz dance exam which was on Saturday. She got Very Highly Commended. Which is her best result yet. She also got results this week for the Uni of NSW English test for Year 7 and she got High Distinction which is 'better than or equal to that of 99% of Year 7 participants in NZ'. She was the only one in her school to get one too.

glad you had a nice day.Josh is a popular name on here isn't it I have a grandson Josh as well. How's the knitting going? You must admit Eileen is lovely but street cars I don't think so. I am so sick of Shelley when will it all end.My great grandmother is buried in the Oxford cemetery she walked from Lyttleton to Oxford when they arrived on a ship hard to imagine. I went there with my uncle about ten years ago and he said if the school bell rang now all his class mates would rise up out of there he was 92. Granny Freshwater was her name I have never heard it anywhere else.

Wow, you must be so proud of your girl. I was just playing the proud mum about a week ago because my daughter got a distinction in the NSW english exam for year 6. She was better than or equal to 97% of participants in NZ, and the only one in her school to get a distinction. Don't we have clever daughters!!!! Good luck with your bone scan tomorrow - I will be thinking of you.

Hi globalandworlds, so pleased to see you again

and pleased you have to report on a lovely sunny day in Rotorua too. It was fab here too. I think being busy is a good way to be and especially if you can regulate how busy you want to be. Glad the kids are ok too. Teenagers go thru that stage of not wanting to eat unhealthy things dont they, but that good. Life is about making choices and we like to think they can make the right ones. ((HUGS)))) to you all too.

3159.

Hope you got the place sorted Farmerlloyd!!

The family must be almost home by now! So now you are a wee hobby farmer with your small fock of ewes? That seems like a nice managable number to me anyway. Sometimes sheep dont have a lot of brain cells operating at once do they??I saw one out here in the neighbours paddock, with its head thru a square netting fence. It spent the whole day, pushing trying to get it whole body thru a 8" x 6" hole, where as 1 step backwards would have seen it out!! In fact it had gone right along the fince line putting it head in and out through these meshs and then just forgot what to do I guess!! I must go to bed on that note, and will see you again tomorrow too.....

Hi maewest, the latest on the job front from today

is that my friend and I have to present a proposal to the Big Boss man on tuesday, outlining exactly how we seee our partnership running within the firm. It all seems quite foreign to him but very straightforward to us. I have been busy writing it all up tonight. Its still in the pipeline, and being negotiated. Seems very longwinded to me though. The thing for me is that I need to go with my friend so she can cover for me while I'm away having Radiotherapy. I'm certainly not mentioning it to anyone else there. Love to you Maewest and thanks for you encouragement!!

joystik (287 )    10:28 pm, 17 Aug

3169.

Haha Boop

Don't you find it scary..not so long ago the AB's were such men and now most of them look like bits of boys!!!! Hehe. Surely it is not us getting older??? I agree with you..the Shelley saga has got to end. When I first joined the taxis our dispatching was done the same way as Eileen (well not quite the same!!!) but now it is all computerised, as is everything these days. Still get to talk on the radio to the drivers though.

maewest (79 )    10:28 pm, 17 Aug

Hi Meridian

Jordan has each bout for a month every 3rd month, its handy in a way coz we know when its coming, but its every feb, may, aug, and nov like clockwork. When I ask the experts why, noone knows so its a bit strange. Hes up and alert now and will stay this way till about 2 or 3am. Then we finally get some sleep but i have to be up early to get Ryan to school so I can't wait for the weekend to catch up on sleep.

Thanks Joystik :))

Danny is the same still in his room all day, I managed to get him to have a shower today which is progress. I have to be really careful how I handle him as he looks to me for support and doesn't like to be told anything. So when i want him to take a shower or similar I have to suggest it gently (bit like stepping on broken glass) The reason to treat him like that is he is also suffering paranoia. My next big job tomorrow is to get him to take his sheets off his bed. Sounds really stupid I know but everything is a major effort and his room is like his world so I can't just go and get them or it upsets him. Something I try very hard not to do.

Hi Karen

One of my kids, Jordan 10, suffers from a condition that makes him very dizzy and vomit for a month at a time, hes very light sensitive while hes like this, so avoids daytime and lives in the dark basically. Hes happy right now as its dark so nothing will trigger it usually.hopefully he will grow out of it at puberty :))

God Bless ya babe

U need the blessing's.I will pray for you when i go to bed,That when i pray.So is this something to do with the sunlight or something.Yea i hope he does grow out of it at puberty.Ive got 2 kids going through that at the moment.Jessie is the worst. She is 16 and Cam well he is confused and is still trying to figure himself out.He is 12.And they are both going on 21.Cam worries me sometimes because of his quiteness.I try so much to be there for him but its like he shoves me out of the way.(((Sigh)) youve got to luv them dont ya. Karen.

3192.

Hi boop

Sorry I just read your question, Ryan is the middle son 13. He is the well one, though I had my years with him being very ill with encephalitus. But hes a happy healthy young cheeky lad now, who hates school and will do anything possible not to go. He rarely ever has a full week at school!!yet hes up with his peers so hopefully college will make him focus a bit more. He wants a career in computer game development and has picked out a uni in oz to attend so he better start to work a bit harder or he will be filling shelves at woolworths for a career!!!

janetmk1 (40 )    11:11 pm, 17 Aug

3193.

bogeyi

yes he has a month off at a time and can't play with anyone as he can't move very far or very fast as it triggers the dizziness. Plus hes in bed most of the day. His friends at school seem to accept that he has an illness and he fits straight back in with them. But it is a boring month for him. bit like your son, he lives on xbox or computer games till hes well enough to do other things.

Bula all

Brents just let me in now - so can only talk a mo - must hit the hay! Thanks for all your kind wishes all :o) I'm enjoying things as best I can but its hard as these lumps are growing like weeds on a watered lawn - new ones bulging out now above my former cleavage, all over my upper right torso really. This monster grows so fast, this 10 days seems like an eternity from that perspective... I sure needed this holiday - but not like this! Part of me is itching to get home, but during the day when playing with my girls the worries fade - lots of smiles ;o) Sure hope the oncologist is doing all he can for me while I'm away. Its action stations when we return!

Good morning to everyone this morning

Hi Joystik, wishing you all the best for you proposal. It makes sense to me, for you to approach this job in the way you are, so lets hope the "man" involved sees the sense of it also . And really I do have enough else to be going on with on my farm. Although I am 100 ewes down at the moment , I still have about 2750 hoggets and about 120 cattle to tend to. But am really enjoying the mild days of late.

can some one give me a few pointers on how you but them into the thread i have never done it.???

kiwikaz3 (16 )    1:20 pm, 18 Aug

3230.

Sonia :))

Sounds absolutely lovely where your staying. Sonia if you can grab a wheat bag and heat it till its very hot, wrap it in a towel and get Brent to put it on exactly where the pain is. You need to lie down with a pillow under your chest and a pillow at the very top of your thighs (move them round till its comfortable for you. put your chin at the end of the bed and get a chair or somthing to support your forehead, so your back/neck is straight. If you lie with the heat pack on for 20- 30 mins morning and night it should give you some relief from the pain. To get you through the rest of the day rub oruvail gel on it regularly. Doctor should be able to give you something similar if not oruval gel it contains "ketoprofen". This should give you relief till you get back to nz.

Hi Everyone

Big Waves to Sonia and family. Hi, I hope the appointment at the dr goes well and he/she can help you in some way. Been busy feeding calves and feeding out Silage, then bringing cows amd calves in. Sorry I cant chat - thinking of you all with love. Hugs and kisses Paula and Joshi. xoxo Bogeyi - YAY for you and Ryan, keep up the great work xo

some advise please

I am still reading this thread and taking alot out of your bravery. What I want to know is - how to make the anniversary of my dear friend as easy as possible for her family, it is just coming up a year and unfortunately, I am not going to be with the family, instead 100s of miles away. Any suggestions would be greatlfully recieved. She was like my sister and anything to help her kids would be awesome.

Hope that Dr has helped the

back problems Sonia. Not fair to be hurting on holiday on top of everything else! Janet my mr14 wants to be a game tester! He sure spends enough time practicing. Pity he can't do a subject in that for NCEA! Kiwikaz hope you are enjoying your break. Pity it wasn't another week to let you get back to your old hometown, but I guess the kids and Mr would be upset not being there if you did that. Safe trip home.

landylass (49 )    4:37 pm, 18 Aug

3238.

lol Landylass

thats for sure,mr 13 had another day off today ughhhh.... his teacher has even tried to accomodate him by allowing him to write essays about gaming. Doesn't seem to make it any easier getting him to school though and after a night up with Jordan the last thing I wanted to do was argue with him about school so I gave in. So he spent the gaming as usual. What games does your son play?

janetmk1 (40 )    4:56 pm, 18 Aug

3239.

Hi all :o)

Doc was useless! That's Nadi for you LOL Asked me to bend over frontways to my toes, I could do that almost and then he said, well thats not too bad and told me to take the meds I already have?! I complained that he hadn't examined me properly but he sat in his chair #sigh# Painkillers working well, sadly have no wheatbag here Janetmk1, but have the purple stuff, getting Brent to massage me with that tonight. Off soon to watch the Fijian Meke show (singing and dancing) soon, not sure if I'll get back on before my time runs out (we get 24 hours at a set rate, which finishes around 8pm). We'll probably get on again early next week sometime, hugs to all of you till then ;o) xoxoxoxo

Your rose sounds lovely, my roses are looking a bit sad on it at the moment. I think its all the rain and not much sun, all my plants could do with a good dose of sunlight. Jordan is just the same, starting to liven up now that its night time.

I just got an amazing email from someone who went to my school (a good few years behind me). She came across my webpage, read my cancer diary and apparently I've given her the incentive she needed to get out, live, and be more positive about her life. Never flown from fear, just booked a trip to Oz etc. Cool :o)

Well done

KiwiKaz - gorgeous photo, beautiful kids. Hi Janet, hope your days been a goody. Joystik, hope you are ok???? Hi Boop and Maewest - had a fun day out on the farm. A cow had it in for me - she is a very posessive mum and when we took her calf out of the paddock she turned on me - it was so funny! Chris and Paul stepped in to tell her where to go and I ended up on my butt inches away from a rather wet cow you know what. Havent laughed like that for ages. I was a bit scared though. Got the old adrenalin going thats for sure. We have 416 odd to calve about 60 ish in now so still a long way to go. Be a lot different when mum goes back. So am making the most of having her here for the next 10 days or so. Thinking of you xo

bogeyi (484 )    9:21 pm, 18 Aug

3277.

Oh Paula, sorry to be laughing but that did sound

so funny and would have looked hilarious too. That is so long as you didnt hurt your self. They can be very posessive and can make a lot of scarey noises when you start to handle their little baby. So you have about 480 all together to calve?? Thats heaps. Lots of hungry wee mouths to feed twice a day. Hasn't it been warm today?? Well it was here anyway....no sun just warm and breezy. Had gales about 4am when I was lying awake wishing I didnt have to take steroids!! Love and hugs to you guys......

joystik (287 )    9:22 pm, 18 Aug

3280.

Hi Maewest, no riding the bike today, cos remember

I am supposed to be resting. So look out tomorrow. I havent really rested much but didnt bike anywhere. No side effects so far and not even any real nausea after the Zofran wore off, so that was good too. I hate taking all those drugs anyway. I dont know leaping salmon either but I would suppose its apricot too. My favourite would still be compassion. I had school girl which is orange as well as the Bantry bay and Dublin bay, which also looks lovely with a climbing Ice-burg. Hope you have had a good day today too....

Future growing one up each side of my New wrought Iron archway in Oamaru. They were just beautiful and a dopey man came and fell a tree on the neighbours property and smashed the whole lot to the ground. Dim witted B*****d. Tried to stand it all up again butit was actually broken, like the roses were and I ended up pulling it all down cos it looked so terrible. And he didnt mention that he had been down the bank on my side of the fence, and had smashed big branches off my margaruite daisy bushes. Do I still sound unimpressed? That was over 2 years ago....Some people...

Hi Global, sorry about your fall and your resultin

bad neck. Hope you manages to get it feeling a bit better and have relief from it tonight. Sore necks rank right up there with sore backs aye Sonia. Thinking of you too Global and love to you all....

Hi Farmer lloyd and Landy lass, you are lucky

last tonight. Your family arrived up late didnt they? You still have heaps of animals left o your farm. How many acres do you have? Hope you manage a sleep in tomorrow morning. Hows things with you Landylass?? Get any more knitting done today? Lauren arrived home with an ASF studen exchange thing tonight! Oh NO......This mummy wont cope if she dives off for a few months next year. I'm feeling fine so far after the chemo yesterday. Might be able to ride the bike a wee way tomorrow. Love to you all....

3309.

well after talking with the nuse tonight

they base there calories on a normal 8yr old boy, he is not a normal 8yr old boy in size or weight he is a boy with FA and if they looked into that then things would change. If we were at home he would be eating the same amount maybe a bit less as hes on steroids so they get the munchies. He certainly is not fading away, I am just not happy with the forcing of NG feeds when he is eating fine....

bogeyi (484 )    10:53 pm, 18 Aug

3310.

joystick he was more than dopey

I would have been furious. Where we lived at Hector the guy next door kept his goats on the bank along side us and sometimes they got off and ate my plants I used to get so angry the final straw was my warratah tree I was watching it because it had it's first two buds on it and you can guess what happened I called him for everything. I lost Rhodoes. Gladies, a protea he would never replace them the sod.

lol sorry bout that but i was helping kiwikaz and though the best way to help her was to show her what the url looked like :)) The seats are just cinema seats I am trying to give away. I have had a good response and have got rid of the whole 200 but will have 800 more in oct and don't think they will be so easy. Danny plays computer games all day, he has his online friends in the game he plays and they chat away on microphones.

Joystik you sure know your roses.....

perhaps you can tell me why mine look so sick. I think its more the temperature and the fact that they are a bit neglected as I really hack them rather than prune. You guys are probably going to curse me but I am like all the males that chop things down to a tenth of the size. I can kinda see where they are coming from though, it looks tidy lol.

I have been reading about Ryans Fa is it an inherited gene in his case?

bogeyi

Good luck tomorrow. go with what feels right to you, poor ryan has had enough without that tube being stuck up his nose again, its just so damn uncomfortable trying to swallow too. why can't they just give him a smoothie with eggs and weetbix, banana's etc blended into it, it may not fatten him up but it will keep him healthy. Can hubby not come and help you battle them? its a lot easier with two of you. Sometimes they just treat mums like overprotective mothers and totally miss the point!!

I am back again went to read about Ryan and saw what you did to the trees. I would rather they looked wild than tidy. Two houses across the road have their trees all nicely cut and rounded I think they look yuk. Sorry Janet.

3320.

boop...

What I meant is, as i was watching some of the larger MB threads, the most common replies were from those who had a lot of stars (Trade Me rating stars) beside their names. Especially when the topic involved a medical problem - like Cancer Sux... look at the ones that come into the MB and introduce themselves...they usually have a good word to add but typically befriend the thread and repeat their entries...hence, they get free advertising when someone clicks on their member name and looks at their listings - all at the expense of someones tradegy...just a coincidence?

kdvd4pc (62 )    12:17 am, 19 Aug

3321.

kdvd4pc

I really don't know where you are coming from. I for one don't bother clicking on peoples profiles and things in this thread we are all friends here and anyone is welcome. You obviously haven't read it because the support, love and friendship on here is heart warming we are not here to gain for ourselves we are here to give support or to be supported. I have made wonderful friends on here. I really can't believe that anyone would think like you do this is life and death here not buy and sell.Try reading a bit of this thread I am really disgusted in your attitude.

boop2 (112 )    12:35 am, 19 Aug

3322.

kdvd4pc

I see you have 61 beside your name are you after free advertising?

boop2 (112 )    12:39 am, 19 Aug

3323.

Why didn't I think of that...KIDDING!

....I'm talking about big sellers, not me...look at thread # 22, that member seems to be popping up on all the big MB threads...just an observation. But just in case I've been missunderstood, i am not here to sell my wares so please do not buy anything from me! :0)

kdvd4pc

what a rediculous accusation. If you bothered to have a good look through this thread you would realise that the regular posters on here are far from materialistic. I would be very surprised if any of them have had any sales resulting from someone looking at their listings from this thread. They are here for support and friendship - no alterior motives! How insensitive of you to suggest otherwise!!!!

3327.

Good morning everyone, well I hope you are

all having a lovely sunny day like it is here in deep Southland. Lovely and warm and breezy again, but can't find much washing to do today!! Have to get on and finish the proposal this morning ready for my friend to look at tonight and hopefully she will add a bit too it, and we can present it in person on Tuesday morning. Lauren is off delivering phamplets soon so that will keep her busy for the morning, and Kev is at the other house, which just leaves me and pussy to smooch and do some other house work. Might pull on the gardening sleeve and prune my last 2 Roses.

joystik (287 )    10:19 am, 19 Aug

3328.

Gee Boop, I can see why you would have been savage

with that man too. When the one came to do the neighbours trees next to our place, Kevin told him NOT to damage anything in our garden or I would lose the plot. fter he had tidied up his mess he came in and said that big branch had fallen down on our side but he had cleaned it up and no damage was done. BIG LIAR!! People that dont garden, just dont understand how much love and care goes into it do they Boop. Janet, I dont think you would ever kill a rose from pruning it down too hard all the same though, but they do grow nicer and flower better if they are done correctly. Sometimes people from Rose society's and places will prune them if you cant or dont know how. They need feed and water apart from that, and lots of people spray them regularly, but I just use mostly soapy water for aphids, and shield sometimes to control black spot or rust if I have too...

joystik (287 )    10:25 am, 19 Aug

Hi bogeyi and Ryan, so pleased things are going

better in your camp too. They must understand that because of his condition etc, he's really not the average 8 year old boy! And anyway, wasn't it the NG feeding that was making him so sick?? Sometimes they get a lot of tunnel vision dont they. Don't let them do what you dont want them to....hes your little boy and I would think he's much better to be happily munching on what he fancies, when he fancies it rather than having stuff poured down a tube that makes him sick......how awful for him... Take care Bogeyi and Ryan and have a great day. Thinking about you heaps guys

I agree Bogeyi, fancy anyone even suggesting such

Keep smiling everyone & don't let those

who don't have the intelligence to empathise and probably don't have any "real" friends in their lives upset you. Anyone "normal" person reading this thread would understand exactly what is going on here - just love and support - no ulterior motives at all. But i guess if you only look at life with the view of what you can get out of it for yourself that is how you will think. You gotta pity them really. Poor deluded fools. Keeping you all in my thoughts and sending lots love...cheers & hugs Trish

the family of that wee baby Corrina that died recently, had there house burgled!! The theiving mongrels went in while Toni and her Mum were at the school dropping Jamie off and fair did the place over. Even went through the babys room where there were very obvious signs that the child had recently died, and took heeps of stuff. They were disturbed and had stashed stuff in the garden which was discovered by the family. They have moved out of the house now and in with Chris and Rickie. Isnt that just dreadfull though?? How much can one family expect to take???

Hi all

Well here I am back again, really busy this last few days with Onocology, GP (for warfarin, lumps now interfering with blood supply to arm causing clots to form) and my surgeon ( no more surgery at present just wants to keep his finger on the pulse). Onocology again on Tuesday I am going on a research programme for women with secondaries from ovarian cancer, they are experimenting with a new drug at the Medical School in Chch and all over the world. I will not know whether I have the same chemo as last time or I am on the new drug until it starts. I handled chemo well last time but don't want to jinx it by talking about how well I kept. Who is this as***le with the problem with our thread? I love the balls thing. My thoughts are with you all especially the ones who are still ill and fighting. Up Swords ladies and fight on. Sonia have a great holiday. What happened to Yawhat, hope you are well and not hospitalised or something. My love and thoughts are with you all.

I had chemo number 4 on thursday and so far so good with no side effects, so hoping it stays that way. I have been told to rest more, so havent been biking for 2 days now, but may just go for a wee one soon to get lotto...((((HUGS))))

Hello

To all my FRIENDS on here - YES we are all FRIENDS and yes I AM YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surely the title of this thread is enough to say people need care and understanding not some ignorant person with very little of either saying we have other motives! Vent over!!! Another busy day here. Bogey glad to hear the news of Ryan. You guys are doing so well. Hi Joystik, Janet, Boop and everyone else. Josh is still feeling pretty well, tired and emotional today but we seem to just have those days. You are all my support network and I feel sorry that I cant be on here as often as I would like, off to feed the calves - love to you all xoxo

Hi Everyone

Wet and dull day here today, we slept in till lunch time so I am feeling a bit more alive today, just got back probs so am having a careful day today. The cat jumped from above me onto my stomach last night and as my back has been playing up on one side for months, was very sensitive,so when I jerked from his 6 kgs suddenly dropping on my tummy the other side of my back caused me agony so I had a restless night,k till I got the wheat pack on it. Grrrrrr to bad backs!!!! Sonia I hope you are feeling a bit better with your back today.

3362.

Hi everyone

I'm home from work again. Oops I slept in this morning. Woke at 10 to 7..got there at 7.30 not bad considering it is a half hour drive from here! The bloke I take over from was really good about it. I will let him be late one day!! Lovely day here, been warm and nor westery...sorry Boop. I knew it would be raining over there.

maewest (79 )    3:30 pm, 19 Aug

3363.

Boop and Joystik

I know I should just leave them, but they look better tidy lol. I trim the ponga ferns which my partner loves and he is not impressed with them being trimmed in any way!! so he would empathise with you totally. He likes the overgrown messy look too. I do try to be careful not to overdo it. theres no fancy perrfect shapes like your neighbour boop. Just what I call a healthy trim. :))

janetmk1 (40 )    3:31 pm, 19 Aug

3364.

Hi Janet

sorry about your back.Nothing worse. The purple stuff (anti flamme) and wheatbag worked wonders on mine a few weeks ago. Don't you just love cats!!Hope Jordan is coping okay today...you too! How is Danny. We were informed yesterday that Josh is now bordering on phsycosis (sp?)! Oh joy!!

maewest (79 )    3:32 pm, 19 Aug

bogeyi

How did it go with the nutritionist? hopefully you won and no ng. Poor kid should be able to eat whatever he feels like after what hes been through. I hope your day is going well.

janetmk1 (40 )    3:33 pm, 19 Aug

3366.

Hey Janet

I think your roses will be fine. Just give them a good feed of something. Friend of my Mum's always attacked hers with the hedge clippers and she always had a glorious display. You can't kill a rose bush they say! I still haven't finished pruning mine...soon. Maybe tomorrow...my favourite saying!

maewest (79 )    3:34 pm, 19 Aug

3367.

Hi Bogey

I agree with Janet. You should (and do) know your son better that they do! If he is now eating they should just be able to give him healthy stuff, shouldn't they? So good that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and can think about going home soon. How good will that be? (((HUGS))) to you and Ryan XXX

maewest (79 )    3:37 pm, 19 Aug

3368.

Hi Maewest,

THats the other name for what Danny has. Really is hard to deal with as opposed to straight depression. Sometimes I am totally lost as to what to do for the best for him. What does Josh do all day? Are you happy with his dr? I think the guys are harder to deal with to coz they don't cry so don't let some of the tension out.

janetmk1 (40 )    3:38 pm, 19 Aug

3369.

Joystik

you are an inspiration. Managing all this job stuff while in the middle of chemo. You go girl!!!Keep it up...nearly there!XXX

3370.

Janet

he doesn't do much at all..playstation where most of the games are based on killing people!!! I son't have anything to with his doctors..leave that to his parents, but personally I feel they are not doing enough. I would have him at one on one counselling at least 3 times a week.

maewest (79 )    3:40 pm, 19 Aug

3371.

Hi meridian,kiwikaz,farmerlloyd,icarus

janetmk1 (40 )    3:41 pm, 19 Aug

3372.

Maewest, Sounds like

he does exactly the same as Danny. Its hard for you coz you have to live with it and can see whats happening but don't make the decisions. I agree about the counselling, Danny starts his soon and I am hoping that will get him moving a bit.

janetmk1 (40 )    3:43 pm, 19 Aug

welcome back. Have been wondering how you were. You have a bit to face yet but keep that sword high...and FIGHT!! Good girl.

maewest (79 )    3:44 pm, 19 Aug

3374.

Janet

yes it's hard watching from the sideline. As you know I have been through all this before with tragic results. I would hate this to end up the same. It's so hard though even for family to know what to do for the best. He is just so different, bordering on weird! What to do?

maewest (79 )    3:46 pm, 19 Aug

3375.

Sorry folks

that I haven't mentioned everyone. I'm heading off outside to wash my car. I think it is white underneath all the mud!! Still have our visitors tonight but will try and get back on here later on. Hope you are all having a lovely day XXX

maewest (79 )    3:48 pm, 19 Aug

3376.

Maewest

LOL I can totally relate to the weird. I hate to say it about my own child but some of the things hes done are weird. Yes the past must be very prominent in your mind with Josh like that. My nephews friend committed suicide last month so its made me a bit more jumpy about it.

Kevin and Lauren spent ages washing and drying

the truck, then I took it up the road to get lotto and a few other bits, and its really dirty! We had a wee shower rain and it made the road quite wet. I told Kev it was dirty again and he didnt get up to look, probably didnt really believe it could have been I think!! Such a big thing to wash and dry, but looks so lovely when its clean...

joystik (288 )    5:26 pm, 19 Aug

Whens the rugby on Prime Boop?? I think they

more cheese, pineapple, onion and bacon and BBQ sauce over it before it goes in the oven and it takes like some creation that I have dreamed up!! Clever aye?? Wont take long to get to 5000 seeing as we are nearly to 3500, that only leaves 1500 and at 200 posts a day average, its only 7 1/2 days.....Whens Sonia back????

joystik (288 )    5:42 pm, 19 Aug

3408.

Grr to these side effects of treatment!

After feeling great all week and thinking I was beating the aches and pains they came back with a real bite on Friday. Had a miserable 48 hours and not much sleep! Was intending to head to Dunedin Airport today and surprise Kiwikaz... a great chance to catch up with her before she heads home, but I've taken some painkillers and heading back to bed instead. Thinking of you all.

landylass (49 )    8:01 am, 20 Aug

3429.

morning landylass I hope those aches and

pains go away for you soon. My eyes are hanging out of my head had a crappy sleep, no reason for it just think my body is used to being woken up.... Hope all had a goodnights sleep last night.

bogeyi (484 )    8:49 am, 20 Aug

3430.

Morning Landylass and Bogeyi....sorry you two

aren't feeling so good today. I woke up with that pain round my jaw and neck again this morning, same as last time, but its more or less gone now, so I don't know what it is. I tld the Oncologist about it but he couldn't really explain it either, especially associating it with the Chemo I'm using. Oh well, I'm not so bad and I did sleep ok. You guys need to have a quiet day and rest a bit. Sorry you couldnt go to Dunedin to meet Kiwikaz, she would have liked that too. Have a good day ladies......

joystik (288 )    9:42 am, 20 Aug

3431.

I couldn't get on here again last night.........

tried to come on and say good nite but No Go. Enjoyed watching the delayed coverage of the All Blacks win over Aussie. Poor Ritchie.....wonder he could even get up after that reckless tackle....

3435.

I will bounce back... just

had a couple hours sleep and feeling a bit better. Its the lack of sleep I think gets you in the end! You can put up with anything as long as you can sleep. Kiwikaz's mum is heading home with her today and wanted me to go down for a couple of weeks. Would have been good fun but no point while I am like this. Got 2 birthdays this week, school dramas, and stepson shifting house so that will be enough to take my mind off the aches! Have a good day everyone.

landylass (49 )    11:53 am, 20 Aug

Beautiful sunny afternoon here and we have just

got back. Its stil a bit breezy, so I've put the washing out on the line for an hour or so. It should be mostly dry in that time anyway. Sounds like you are all having a rather quiet day. Globl, my Lauren would be in her PJ's all day on the weekendsif I didn't make her get dressed. I would like to see much more motivation, but sometimes its not to be is it. Pleased you enjoy your walks....I enjoy going for walks too....

hi joystick

not much of a day here today, rain then sunny but a bit colder I feel. Malc has just chopped down some scraggy trees for me too make another garden. I thought in this one I would put rhodo's, pungas, hostas and things like that. They have fragranttissama at the nursery it is the most beautiful thing you probably know it. I am not sure how to spell it but that is how it is pronounced if I remember rightly it comes from the original princess Alice. The perfume is just gorgeous. I am not whitebaiting this year just want to get back into the garden. Have you had a lovely day? I like tonights tv programmes so probably won't get back on here have a good rest and god bless.
