352.   Good morning everyone ,
Welcome home Sonia, although I have missed a couple of days of catching up with this message board, I am sure you will have a million things to keep you busy with, now that you are home. Best wishes for you as you get back into your routines again. And thank you for posting holiday pics ...we all feel that Fiji would be quite a nice place to be lately, what with this last little wintery weather sting !!

353.   I cannot go off to my chores without saying
WELL DONE with your new job!! See, there are some sensible intelligent and understanding bosses out there ( and that includes some male ones !!!) I wish you all the best. About your runabout? would it help if I told you my son has been on to me about getting an Isuzu wizard also!! We do have an Isuzu much the same. It will have to do for a while longer!

369.   Hi Boop, I can see there will be a few wines to
be had before long. I had a look in the rose catalogue and YES Barkarole is in there. It is a beautiful rose, and one i haven't got at this stage, but that can all chane in a trip to town!! Did you order a catalogue online?? Just go to Tasman bay roses web site and there is a place to order a free catalogue. Mine only took a couple of days to get here and its beautiful. Makes one want to shop for more roses. Where to plant them is the thing....Have a good day. I've got a busy one again...

joystik (290 )    9:33 am, 24 Aug

good morning. I think we will all have to have a group wine session every time you have a success...and that seems to be every day for you! I love the sound of the new rose Hayley Westenra that you were describing. Think I man have to find a spot for it!Spent yesterday out in the garden...I can hardly move today!!! Lol!!!

good morning to you. Hope you managed to get some sleepo. It must be exhausting for you having to sit up for most of the night. Don't know how you do it. Have a lovely day XXX

381.   morning everyone.
Sonia i am glad you are back, good luck with the washing (mine done but will never dry in this weather), hope appointments go well too. Joystik I to love roses will have to go and take a look and order one. Looking for a pure white one, long stemed and perfumed. Hope everyone has a good day, especially the children.Christine

gregp3 (6 )    9:45 am, 24 Aug

382.   Landylass
can't stop thinking about you. Such a bummer about those results. You are such a lovely lady and don't deserve this after everything else you have been coping with. Have you started that shawl yet? I'm over halfway up the middle section. It's slow going but I am determined to have it finished by the time this babe arrives. Have a lovely day (((HUGS))) to you

maewest (79 )    9:48 am, 24 Aug

383.   gregp3
good morning to you. For a white perfumed rose you can't go past Margaret Merrill...one of my favourites. It's divine. I'm watching Aster on Gd Morning as I'm typing this. She is such a hoot and the flower arrangements are amazing. She is quite subdued this morning though

maewest (79 )    9:51 am, 24 Aug

384.   Bogey
you must be so excited about going home. You are probably right about it taking all day to get the meds sorted. Ryan too will be excited. My thoughts with you tday...and every day.(((HUGS)))

maewest (79 )    9:54 am, 24 Aug

385.   And good morning

maewest (79 )    9:57 am, 24 Aug

386.   How ironic the hospital is bursting
at the seams there are no beds and they are after ours.....great

bogeyi (484 )    10:01 am, 24 Aug

387.   Gregp, look at Margaret Merrill, the perfume is
devine....The flowers do fade off to a creamy white but the perfume more than compensates for that. I like it much better than Iceberg, because of the perfume. Its quite cloudy here too but not cold and the washing is 1/2 out. Had lts of phone calls this morning and I am trying to get out the drive on my bike....

joystik (290 )    10:24 am, 24 Aug

388.   Hi geeza, I hope it all goes well with John'
CT scan this morning. It will be over by now anyway. I got my appointment with all the maps and plans in it this morning, for my markup, so I know exactly where you are. Love to you both and take care of each other....See you later too..

joystik (290 )    10:26 am, 24 Aug

joystik (290 )    10:28 am, 24 Aug

390.   Kiwikaz, we must listen to the same station.....
very good thought for the day I thought too. Funny thing is that often I hear that in the morning and then later in the day I get an email with the same message from somewhere in the country. Glad everyone is feeling OK at your house so far. I'm on cloud nine here and had the best sleep ever, didn't wake up once! Love to you and family....

joystik (290 )    10:30 am, 24 Aug

392.   Hi Bogeyi and Ryan, things are sounding very
promising for an early realease home are they?? Hope so. I suppose if Ryan is well enough then what other reason is there to keep him. When I was in Kew, they were very short of beds too...so many sick people. hope you have a great day and look forward to hearing good news from you. Hugs to you both....

joystik (290 )    10:34 am, 24 Aug

Thinking of you and the excitement that will be coming for young Josh for tomorrow night. Love to you all. Hey farmerlloyd,, these Izusu Wizards seem to have a good reputation. I'm looking for a silver one (Yes! colour does matter!!) probably Auto, and around 1998 onwards. Theres heaps in the North Island, and much cheaper than here but its getting there to see them and such a long drive back. Only 2 I can find in Invercargill so far, but I will keep looking. You have a great day too....

joystik (290 )    10:38 am, 24 Aug

joystik (290 )    10:40 am, 24 Aug

395.   Hi landylass, I hope you are having a quiet day
after the big shifting day yesterday. So with your heart problem, is there nothing that can be done to help that function return or get any better? Or will you just carry on the same. I see you said that you don't feel any different, but do you think part of your tiredness is coming form the heart thing? I've been thinking lots about you, and I'm sorry for what has happened here. (((HUGS))) to you...Enjoy your day...

joystik (290 )    10:44 am, 24 Aug

cloffie (49 )    11:45 am, 24 Aug

407.   Welcome back sonia... hope its
not too cold up there in the big smoke. Hehe Maewest I like your idea of group drinkies to celebrate Joystiks every success! No I haven't started the shawl, just ordered the wool yesterday and got another sleeve on a jersey to finish then let me at it! Today is another day Joystik, must admit yesterday rocked my boat a bit. Don't think any medication can help, just a matter of making sure it doesn't get any worse! I am just getting frustrated at lack of answers. Yesterday oncologist told me my aches and pains could be an allergic reaction to radiation! Could be too, as I woke up sore my first weekend home at the end of my first week. Nobody can tell me how long they are going to last! Upped the joint supplements couple of days ago and feeling a bit better.

landylass (52 )    12:26 pm, 24 Aug

411.   Afternoon Everyone
It was a long night last night, so I am still half asleep, Jordan is doing ok so far, hes slightly dizzy if he goes anywhere near light but luckily the vomiting hasn't started yet. Good to have you back Sonia, we missed you, I hope you get some relief with your back pain today.

janetmk1 (42 )    1:18 pm, 24 Aug

412.   Hi Paula
No worries the photos can wait!! I hope Josh is ok, last thing you need is for him to get sick again.Give him a big dose of vit c, that really works well on the flu with echinacea. I gave my kids a huge dose when they started with the flu and the next day they were fine. Hugss Paula xxxxxx

janetmk1 (42 )    1:21 pm, 24 Aug

413.   Hope you all have a great....
day, I have severe brain fade today, not enough sleep!!! so I will come back later when I am feeling a bit more alive :))

Cool, must be a bit pre-occupied didnt even know I got the hundy. Farm was nice, in the Gore area. We will see... xoxoxo

paulaxx (78 )    2:17 pm, 24 Aug

415.   Landylass and Janet
Thanks for your thoughts, I cant give Josh Vit C, it actually increases the toxicity of one of the Chemos hes on, and if I could get him to have echinacea I would be a happy girl! Bug** its nearly time to go and feed those bubbas again, camera camera camera, trying not to forget - be just like me to drop it in the milk. :o/ love to you guys xo

paulaxx (78 )    2:19 pm, 24 Aug

416.   Hi All :o)
Backs on the improve - yay for my physio and back guys (and the pain killers LOL) Spine was locked up near the bottom and up at the neack, and popped out to my left at shoulderblades level. No wonder I was in pain! Back muscles all seized up now too... more physio and exercises should sort things. Still no appointment from Oncologist dammit (mind you - whats the rush? I know he's going to throw me the "I've got x months to live" line, not so keen on hearing that LOL). Old friend I haven't seen in over a year meeting me for coffee (green tea for me LOL) next week, so thats nice, and coffee group angel dropping me around some dinner so I don't have to cook :o) There are angels in the world, yay for them! OK back to the washing...

boop2 (117 )    2:49 pm, 24 Aug

424.   Hi joystick
you sound like a box of fluffy ducks, did you get your bike ride? I got an email back from Tasman roses they have the one I want so hopefully I can get it posted. Went to the nursery with my friends this morning and bought a warrartah, lily of the valley, lilac, photinia red robin, sunsetgold lucadendrum excuse spelling. i have to wait for my next visitors to go before I can plant them.It is wet and fine here today on and off. Hope you have luck finding your car.You are going to be very important I feel. Take care.

boop2 (117 )    2:55 pm, 24 Aug

425.   Hi maewest
Do you ever stop working? Take it easy and rest a bit. You are doing well with your shawl when is the baby due? It is so hard to keep up on here it moves so quick. Hugs and take care.

boop2 (117 )    2:58 pm, 24 Aug

426.   hi farmerlloyd, geeza, meridian, kiwikaz, landylas
s have a nice day .Take care.

boop2 (117 )    3:00 pm, 24 Aug

427.   leanne
hi, you certainly did come to the right place. what sort of cancer your dad have?? my husband has a brain tumor and brain injury so i cannot plan a thing just take each day as they come (hard for the rest of the world to understand) and yes some days are better than others. hugs to you both.

kiwikaz3 (16 )    3:02 pm, 24 Aug

428.   boop2
how are you today?? getting the gardening done if you run out of jobs you can always come and do mine!!! I live in hope of maybe getting some done at the weekend maybe i will just have to play that one by air!!

kiwikaz3 (16 )    3:04 pm, 24 Aug

429.   no lambies
  YET!!!! but they close !!!

kiwikaz3 (16 )    3:06 pm, 24 Aug

430.   Hi leanne, and thanks for your post. Sorry about
your Dad but we all have the greatest empathy for the way he and all of you will be feeling right now. If you're not sure whats happening with his treatment, and especailly if he's not sure either, its a good idea for someone else to go with him and ask lots of questions. Chemo affects lots of people in different ways. I was told to expect huge side effects from mine, and had virtually nothing. Between us all on here, we do have quite a wee store of information, so we might be able to help. Take care and love to your Dad too....

joystik (290 )    3:31 pm, 24 Aug

431.   Cloffie, of course I will always speak to you all.
I don't ever expect to be famous, except to you lovely friends of mine here. I have always been a very motivated type of person and it takes a lot to put me off doing something that I want to do. Hope you have had a great day too.....

joystik (290 )    3:34 pm, 24 Aug

432.   Glad you are feeling better today Landylass.......
they did tell me about tiredness too, as one of the more significant side effects. Keep on taking the supplements, they will never do you any harm......and take things easy until you do feel better.

joystik (290 )    3:35 pm, 24 Aug

433.   Hi Paula, so that could be the farm you move too??
Its fun looking at them and comparing things. Are you looking at any bareland or just complete with housing? Enjoy feeding your babies and DONT drop the camera in the milk!!Hope Josh and Cass are feeling better by now...

joystik (290 )    3:37 pm, 24 Aug

434.   Green tea is good Sonia! I only have milky tea
at breakfast now really and the rest og the time I have green tea with Lemon, and I really like it. Took me a bit of getting used to it to begin with, but its much better for you. Dont have much coffee at all now. Only really when I'm out and have a Latte' or a cappuchino...mmmmm. Thank goodness the back guys have been able to help you out with the pain. Maybe next week you will see the Oncologist. I told mine I wanted to know everything about my treatment etc, EXCEPT the end date!! But he said he didn't give end dates and thought it was a very unfair practice. We all need reasons to live for!! You have millions that I can think of....and there are lots of treatment options still out there...

joystik (290 )    3:42 pm, 24 Aug

435.   Hi kiwikaz,

437.   Yeah Boop, I left here at about 11am and biked
round for an hour delivering circulars, and then biked back to our other house and had lunch with Kevin. Then at 12.45 I biked round the hilly part of the village and did more circulars until I ran out. Got home about 2.30. So lucky I've been resting for a week aye??? Your garden is going to be beautiful with all those things you bought. Its cloudy here today but not really cold and the washing has dired that I put on the line....

joystik (290 )    3:46 pm, 24 Aug

441.   thanks for the words of support
my dad has a form of testicular cancer but its in his growths are in his chest and stomach.dad is very frail (as i guess lots of people are) and there isnt a great deal to him to help. he only weighs 43 kgs!!ive been with dad every step of the way, this is a horrible thing to have to go through by yourself. the oncology staff at southland hospital are just great,as im sure they are all over the country. i wouldnt have dad anywhere else while he is going through this and its caused its own problems between me and my brother. he thinks dad should be in a home as i have 5 children and live in rural(sp) southland. while dad is sick i dont believe he is that sick yet, there will be a time but its not now. is there anyone else in southland that is going though something simular?

leanne-brent (6)    3:54 pm, 24 Aug

442.   Hi Kiwikaz, I looked at my last 3 roses that
need to be pruned and thought, I will do it another day. Just felt like biking today, and saw lots of people to chat to on my travels. Your garden will wait for you too. It does get more weedy but it still only seems to take around the same time, no matter if the weeds are short or big! Take care....and have fun with your family instead..

joystik (290 )    3:55 pm, 24 Aug

soniat-d (153 )    3:59 pm, 24 Aug

447.   Hi guys, we are still here
I asked to stay one more night just in case but tomorrow is the day....HOME we go. We have been out for a walk but its chilly so didnt stay out long, hes now eating Mud cake and cream..... His neutrafils are a whopping 4.39 platelets 36 and HGB 110 these two counts seem to be holding now rather than dropping so his body is starting to produce himself....

bogeyi (484 )    4:01 pm, 24 Aug

448.   Damn, looks like I'll miss popping in then
Bogeyi - are you OK with going home tomorrow? Hope so.

bogeyi (484 )    4:32 pm, 24 Aug
451.   Glad he is eating
I have been reading about him with interest. We have a son with a potentially fatal disease. So far he okay but that can change. You are very brave. It is great that you have each other. tell him to eat slowly, doesnt want to get intergestion!!!(spl). lol Christine.

gregp3 (6 )    4:56 pm, 24 Aug

452.   gregp3 can i ask what your son has
dont answer if you dont want to..

bogeyi (484 )    4:58 pm, 24 Aug

453.   Grr Sonia....
you are allowed to think bad things once in a while like being told x months but you just go put them right out of your head now and get on with the fight! Never exhaust hunting for an alternative!!!! Pity we are all so far away or we could kidnap you for a day and have a cheer up Sonia Day!

landylass (52 )    5:50 pm, 24 Aug

454.   Welcome Leanne, sad
to have to join a thread like this but good on you for looking after your dad. I have been helping the shifters clean out the old house this afternoon, after having planted out some stuff in the garden. Only went to town to get some more plants and got waylaid. Best get off here as Mr14 has house competition night on tonight at school. House dramas, hakas and choirs. Hehe cunning little devil offered to help backstage and that got him out of the choir!

landylass (52 )    5:51 pm, 24 Aug

455.   Hi all...
just popping in to read and keep up with everyone, nearly dinner time, my partner is cooking coz I am running on empty, too tired to do anything cept the washing and a quick tidy today. Sonia, your message was very sad!! Hope your not giving in to the monster. You are way to strong to let it beat you. But you are allowed a down day now and then thats for sure.

janetmk1 (42 )    6:04 pm, 24 Aug

456.   Hi Landylass, don't worry!
I don't need cheering! I just know my oncologist all to well, he's not a "glass is half empty" guy, but more so than a "glass is half full" if you know what I mean. Still no word from them yet. Just been out, got my eyes tested they're pretty good (long distance outstanding ;o) but getting reading glasses. Wow what a difference to the small stuff! :o) Just found out today Lydia's school is a huge supporter of Daffodil Day (Cancer Society is their only charity they support - how did I not know that before now?!). Anyway, they're doing all sorts tomorrow, including kids dressing in green/yellw so just got Lydia a Green top and yellow flower and ribbons for her hair. That was fun :o) Great support are the Cancer Society - simply awesome :o)

soniat-d (153 )    6:08 pm, 24 Aug

457.   bogeyi
he has Neurofibromatosis. That is often a genetic disorder, we are not sure if it is genetic or a gene mutation. He has 3 microscopic brain tumours that are not growing at this stage, however if they do there is nothing they can do for him.

gregp3 (6 )    6:08 pm, 24 Aug

458.   sonia
What a cool idea for the school to get involved, this terrible disease effects the whole community!! dont forget pictures.

gregp3 (6 )    6:11 pm, 24 Aug

459.   Was my post really sad janet?
Sorry! Wasn't meant to be - I'm fine ;o) Still fighting the fight, absolutely! I just know my oncologist! LOL Just a reminder though that I have big lumps all over my chest wall which I feel as I move (its like having marbles and small golf balls embedded inside my muscles), and my excretions have changed colour, and I've lost my appetite (still eating though - and good stuff ;o) But I'm still cracking jokes so my spirit must be pretty damn good ;o) I just want to attack the b#st#rds!!! Want that meeting over and done with and a new plan in place, hopefully still including my current alternatives stuff ;o) OK everyone, off to cook a meal for the first time in 11 days... What do I do again?! LOL

soniat-d (153 )    6:15 pm, 24 Aug

460.   Sonia
I have reading glasses for the same just like you. Got them two years ago and wow what a difference. Thanks for your email xo

paulaxx (78 )    6:16 pm, 24 Aug

461.   I know gregp3 - cool eh?!
I'm chuffed! Now I'm trying to work out whether I can chop up one of my pink wristbands and make it smaller for Lydia - Do I have a decent enough glue?! She's always asked to have one herself ;o)

soniat-d (153 )    6:17 pm, 24 Aug

462.   Bogey
Yay for Ryan - wow those counts are up there! Great!! Just had to give Josh some panadol for headache and sore throat! Bugga - as soon as we start on the treatment again something crops up!!!   have you tried olive leaf?? may not suit with drugs etc. we have been using it here as a preventitive over winter. works really well. Just a thought. christine

gregp3 (6 )    6:28 pm, 24 Aug

464.   Hi Christine
No I havent? What form of Olive Leaf? Thanks for posting - wishing you all the best with your son. It is very hard to even get Josh to eat most foods at the moment - his tastes with the chemo and since his brain hemmorhage have gone to the pack.

paulaxx (78 )    6:30 pm, 24 Aug

465.   Ok my friends
Here are some pics - not very clear but still a taste of my days. gregp3 (6 )    6:40 pm, 24 Aug

468.   Leanne-Brent
Sorry you are going through a rough time at the moment, my thoughts are with you and your family. I live just out of Gore. Spend a fair bit of time at Kew. Maybe we will meet up one day??? We may be able to grab a coffee. We have been living with our sons diagnosis since Oct 2005. I still take one day at a time, I guess you kinda get used to it. hugs to you

paulaxx (78 )    6:41 pm, 24 Aug

473.   Sorry Sonia

janetmk1 (42 )    7:18 pm, 24 Aug

474.   Paula loved the pics
  Ryan thinks they are cute.

bogeyi (484 )    7:19 pm, 24 Aug

The photos are so cute, they grow really fast don't they?

janetmk1 (42 )    7:21 pm, 24 Aug

476.   Well guys if i feel Sonia is getting down
I will have to drive over personally and poke her in the jacksie with my sword.......Sonia will love to catch up maybe in the holidays if there is time between your appointments and mine?????depends on what meds Ryan is on as with his steroids hes immune suppressed so we still have to be really careful..... Just done his drug chart by the time he goes to bed i would of given him 18 meds through out the day....OMG

bogeyi (484 )    7:23 pm, 24 Aug

477.   bogeyi
he is nearly 11. we have only known for 3 years and have yearly MRIs. It is like living with a time bomb really. I know what to look for if the things grow and try not to dwell on it too much. His father and I spoil him rotten. You just make the most of it ah. I hope your baby will get better soon. I wish we lived closer so I could help you. We have a great pediatrition who has learnt that the best thing he can do is say nothing cause nothing anyone can say will help.

gregp3 (6 )    7:29 pm, 24 Aug

478.   He must be rattling with all...
that inside him bogeyi. Great they are letting you guys go home tomorrow!!!!

janetmk1 (42 )    7:30 pm, 24 Aug

479.   Gee Bogeyi, that is a good number of meds for a
little fella! Sometimes I take 6 or 8 of those big supplement capsules and just cant imagine taking any more ......

joystik (290 )    7:43 pm, 24 Aug

480.   Paula, the pics are lovely.....all those lovely wee
calves. Took me back a few year to when I used to do that every season for some pocket money. Only difference was that mine were all jerseys. Glad you liked the farm. Have you got a contract on it??

joystik (290 )    7:50 pm, 24 Aug

481.   Sonia, I think its lovely that the schools get
in behind things like the Cancer Society's Daffodil day. The little people certainly need to be aware of the threat that it is in society today. All of the schools the Lauren has been to have done stuff like that too. Tomorrow they have a Mufti day with a gold coin donation for the cause. The Professionals Real Estate are big sponsers of the Child Cancer foundation which was another reason I wanted to go there to work.

joystik (290 )    7:54 pm, 24 Aug

482.   Bogeyi I hope you are as impressed as me
with the fact that you are off home so early in the piece. I take that to mean your doctors are very pleased with Ryan's progress. I do hope he continues to hit all of the markers that will show the successful 'take' of his transplant.

farmerlloyd (24 )    8:14 pm, 24 Aug

483.   Bogeyi
What a lot of meds, feel for you with the responsibility that goes with all that! Glad you liked the photos. Hope your last night there is a goodie xo

paulaxx (78 )    8:17 pm, 24 Aug

484.   I have been reading as much as I can
of your threads over the last few weeks....I dont get a lot of free to read them all, but what I have read has bought tears, smiles and brings back so many memories. Hi to you all. My name is Chris and I am a cancer survivor. I had cancer 17 years ago when my youngest was 5 months old, and I was 24!!! I was fortunate to have so many positive people around me, and they helped pull me through. I have been thinking of you all and send my very positive love to you all.

minnie23 (70 )    8:17 pm, 24 Aug

485.   Glad
You all liked the pics. Just had the Southland Times interview Josh and I about the game tomorrow. I always get nervous talking to media. Huh that sounds like I do it lots lol. Joystik - no contract yet, havent even smiled at the bank manager, will phone him soon to ask him nicely what he thinks. Night all. Best wishes to you all xo

paulaxx (78 )    8:18 pm, 24 Aug

486.   Sonia
If anyone has the strength, courage, willpower and determination to come out the winner in this battle you are presently fighting. Then let me tell you..... YOU DO !!!!!! You will never give up. You will win . I pray for you every day. Stay strong up there Sonia and if I was you I would take up any offer of help esp during your more hectic times

farmerlloyd (24 )    8:20 pm, 24 Aug

  I will buy 20 copies!!

joystik (290 )    8:31 pm, 24 Aug

488.   Thanks for posting Minnie....I just love happy
endings. The power of positiveness and having those types of people around you certainly does wonders. I am so pleased that you can report that you are a survivor. If you dont mind me asking, what type of cancer did you have??? You dont have to say if you dont wish too. Mine is breast cancer, and I am having my chemo now, with 4 down 2 to go. So nearly finished that bit and then on to Radio therapy. Feel welcome to post here anytime. We are a friendly bunch. Love to you and your family....

joystik (290 )    8:39 pm, 24 Aug
